"Fall down seven, stand up eight."
-Japanese Proverb
Life is full of moments when we fall, lose our footing, question ourselves, or simply find ourselves unsure of what comes next. I believe those moments are not signs of failure, they are part of being human.
And sometimes, getting back up is not something we have to do alone.
My journey into counseling began with a passion for understanding the person behind the performance. I earned my first degree from Florida State University, where I continued my education in Sport Psychology, ultimately earning my Master’s degree in Sport Psychology. For the past three years, I have worked as a Mental Performance Coach, helping individuals develop the mental skills they need to navigate pressure, build confidence, manage emotions, set meaningful goals, and perform at their best.
Through this work, I have learned that performance is about so much more than what happens on a field, court, stage, or in a classroom.
We are all performers at life.
We all experience pressure, self-doubt, expectations, relationships, transitions, setbacks, and moments when we wonder if we are doing enough or being enough. The way we think, feel, and understand ourselves impacts how we show up in every area of our lives.
This realization is what led me to pursue my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University, which I am currently completing. Counseling has given me the opportunity to expand my work beyond performance and explore the whole person. The individual's experiences, emotions, relationships, beliefs, identity, challenges, and the stories they carry with them.
I am excited to work with individuals on a deeper level.
Mental performance coaching often asks, “How can we help you perform at your best?”
Counseling allows us to also ask, “How are you doing? What are you carrying? What do you need? And who do you want to become?”
I believe those questions matter.
My goal is to create a counseling space where you can take off the pressure to have everything figured out. A space where you can be honest, curious, vulnerable, and fully yourself. Together, we can explore where you are, where you want to go, and what may be getting in the way.
I don't believe resilience means never falling.
I believe resilience means having the courage to acknowledge the fall, give yourself permission to feel what you feel, learn from the experience, and find a way forward.
Sometimes standing up means taking a giant leap.
Sometimes it means taking one small step.
Fall down seven. Stand up eight.
Whatever season of life you are in, you don't have to navigate it alone.
Areas of Focus
I work with athletes and performers, individuals navigating career changes, anxiety and depression, and youth, adolescents, and adults. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Theory, while recognizing that every person’s story and needs are unique.
